Activity 4.3
Construct the C and F tonic triads on the treble staff, with key signature and
D tonic triad on the bass staff, without key signature.
Singing tonic triads in various keys
When singing tonic triads, the sounds of particular notes can be pronounced by
using solfa syllables: do, mi and so. The first note in a tonic triad will sound as do,
the second note as mi and the third note as so. In order to sing the correct pitches
of a tonic triad by using solfa syllables do mi so, you need to start by singing the
whole scale of a particular key. After singing the scale do re mi fa so la ti do', you
can easily recognise and sing the correct pitches of a triad, do mi and so. A triad
cannot be sung by one person but three or more people can sing a triad in harmony.
Activity 4.4
