The tense you have used in the game in Activity 1(e) is the present perfect
continuous tense. This tense is used to talk about actions that started in the past
and are still happening now or recently stopped but are essential to the present.
This tense is proper when we talk about ongoing actions and the time spent on
them. The structure is [Subject] + have/has + been + [verb + ing]. For example,
“I have been reading a book.” which means I started reading in the past and
I am still reading it, or I just finished, but the action is still important. Another
example is that “She has been studying for two hours.” meaning she started
studying in the past and is still studying now. This tense helps us focus on how
long something has been happening and how it connects to the present moment.
Examples
1. I have been playing football for an hour.
2. They have been working hard all day.
3. He has been waiting for the bus since morning.
