Ngapona continued with her work, while the other family members got busier with
the preparations. Meanwhile, Uncle Mwakifule went to the back of the house where
a group of men and women were cooking. He began to give instructions loudly
while tasting every dish. Amidst the preparations, disaster struck. A large pot of

delicious stewed beef was accidentally tipped over, spilling the beef pieces into the
           dust.

There was a brief silence before Mwakifule, without hesitation, picked up a piece,
dusted it off, and took a bite. “Still tastes as good as ever!” He announced, causing
an eruption of laughter among the men and women present.

Moments after the commotion, Nditu, the eldest grandmother, arrived, escorted by
her youngest grandson, Mpoki. Ngapona welcomed them and seated the grandmother
on one of the comfortable chairs. Gradually, different family members gathered
around. Bibi Nditu, as she was lovingly called, blessed the gathering on behalf of
the elders, her wrinkled hands raised toward the sky. “May our family always be
united, whether in laughter or tears. May peace and love be forever with us all. We
pray for these in the mighty name of our ancestors,” she said solemnly and sat down.
           All those present applauded loudly.
