Teaching steps
1. Guide students to search for information from library and

2. Guide students to do Activity 2.2 from Student’s Book about
binomial nomenclature. Ask them to prepare a report.
3. Guide students to walk around the school campus or visit a
nearby botanical garden to identify trees by their common and
scientific names. Assign them to note down the names of trees.
4. Assign students to do Exercise 2.2 from Student’s Book. Mark
the exercise and provide feedback
2.5 Taxonomic keys
Teaching steps
1. Guide students to search from library and internet sources
the videos or images showing taxonomic keys (indented and
dichotomous key). Ask them to note what they have observed.
2. Guide students to discuss in groups procedures for construction
of taxonomic keys. Check whether they participate actively in
group discussion. Ask them to note what they have discussed.
3. Guide students to explore the school environment to observe
various organisms. Ask them to choose four organisms,
then, examine their characteristics, and construct a bracketed
dichotomous key for them.

Assign students to do Revision exercise 2 from the Student’s Book.
Mark and provide feedback.
