           3.5   Kingdom Fungi

               Teaching steps
               1.  Guide students  to search for information  from library  and
           FOR ONLINE READING ONLY
                  internet sources about kingdom Fungi (Phylum Zygomycota,
                  Ascomycota, and Basidiomycota).
               2.  Guide students to discuss in groups the;

                  (a) General characteristics of Rhizopus Sp., Saccharomyces Sp.,
                     and Agaricus Sp.
                  (b) Distinctive features of Rhizopus Sp., Saccharomyces Sp., and
                     Agaricus Sp.
                  (c) Adaptations of Rhizopus Sp., Saccharomyces Sp., and Agaricus
                     Sp. to their mode of life.
               3.  Guide students to do Activities 3.3 and 3.4.  Ask them to prepare
                  a summary of  what they have oserved.
               4.  Arrange a visit to a local mushroom grower to guide students
                  in investigating the structure of mushrooms, their reproduction,
                  and adaptation to their mode of life.
               5.  Guide students to do  Activity 3.5.   Ask  them to prepare a
                  summary of their observation.

                  Safety precaution
                  Some mushroom species are poisonous when consumed, so be
                  careful when dealing with mushrooms.


               6.  Assign students to do Exercisees 3.9 and 3.10 from Student’s
                  Book. Mark their exercises and provide feedback.
