               the students to answer the questions and complete the activities
               under  Activity 2.1(b). The intention  is to enable students to
               develop  vocabulary from the dialogue and use it in different
               communication contexts.

           (c) Playing the Pelmanism vocabulary game using the provided
               guidelines in the Student’s Book. Instruct the students to read
               the steps in the Student’s Book on how to play the Pelmanism
               vocabulary game.   Then, ask the students to find the definitions
               of the given words and any other words they come up with.
               Lead them to play the game and announce the winner at the
               end of the game.

           (d) Reading the speech by the H.E Dr  Samia Suluhu Hassan in
               class and observing how words are used in writing speeches.
               This activity intends to enable the student to develop
               vocabulary related to speech delivery. To teach this activity,
               ask the students to read the speech individually and later on in
               pairs to share their understanding of its content. Then, ask them
               to list and say the meanings of the vocabulary in bold and use
               them in sentences.

           (e) Writing synonyms for each word in the table in Activity 2.1(c).
               Ask each student to read the words provided in the Student’s
               Book and find their meanings. You may instruct the students to
               sit in pairs and ask them to write the synonyms of each word
               they have read. Then ask them to construct ten sentences using
               the synonyms they have written. The following is an example
               of the expected responses from the students. The synonyms of
               the word ‘Commence’ are ‘begin’,  ‘kick-off’, ‘launch’,  and
               ‘start.’ Example of sentences ‘Her journey will begin tomorrow.’
               ‘Let’s start the meeting by providing a short introduction.’ ‘The
               performance will kick off promptly at 7 PM.’
