(f) Preparing a speech from the selected topic on child’s rights,
environmental conservation, gender violence, tax-paying, or
corruption. This activity intends to provide the students with
the opportunity to use the knowledge they have gained from the

speech by H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to prepare a speech
that they may deliver on Youth Day. Tell them to rehearse the
speech and deliver the speech to the class to show that they are
skilled orators. Then, ask other students to write down any new
vocabulary they hear from their fellows’ oration and finally
conduct a discussion about the words.
Activity 2.2 Discovering the meanings of vocabulary using context,
technical dictionary, thesaurus, and encyclopaedia
Use the activities in the Student’s Book to guide the students through:
(a) Reading the story about Cyberbullying and completing the
activities after it. This activity intends to provide the students
with the opportunity to develop technical vocabulary from the
story in the field of science and technology. Instruct the students
to read the story individually and later on conduct a plenary
discussion to ask them to identify all cyber-related terms in the
text and use five (5) terms to construct five meaningful sentences
out of the terms. Lead a discussion on how the students can deal
with social media ethically and responsibly.
(b) Using the context, technical dictionary, thesaurus, or
encyclopaedia to find the antonyms for the italicized words in
the given passage. Instruct each student to read the paragraph
provided in the Student’s Book and re-read the italicized words
in the paragraph. Then, ask them to find the antonyms for each
italicized word in the paragraph. The antonyms provided by the
students may vary but they may include the following:
