                Introduction

The amount of nutrients demands varies from one individual to
another due to different reasons. It is important to understand
the nutrients composition of different foods so as to meet body
demands. In this chapter, students will learn about the concept
of nutrient values, food labeling and food composition table.
Furthermore, students will calculate nutrient intake using
food composition tables and nutrient reference values. The
competences developed will enable students to use nutrient
values in planning meals that meet nutritional needs of various
individuals in their community and to make proper choice of
foods to avoid risks of developing health problems.
