                                         Life is to be lived

Mukange has just turned 18 years old. Although he lives in the city of Gold, where life
is full of energy, Mukange preferred the comfort of his home. His elder sister, Tulipo,

who had arrived from college, even advised him to try and live his life as he would
normally not venture outside his home often.
One Saturday morning, Mukange woke up and decided to heed his sister’s advice.
He decided to set out and look around the city, eager to find out what lay beyond his
familiar surroundings. As he set off on his safari, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of
nervousness and excitement at the same time.
As Mukange strolled down the crowded streets, he ran into his friend, Tariq who
suggested they hang out together for the day. Mukange agreed, happy for the company.
Together, they turned into a narrow alley filled with market stalls, selling vibrant fabrics
          and exotic spices.
Suddenly, they came across ‘mdundiko’ a famous traditional dance for people in the
coastal area. Mesmerised by the rhythmic beats, Mukange and Tariq joined in the
dancing, letting loose and enjoying themselves. After the impromptu dance session,
Mukange realised he had lost track of time. Worried about getting back home before
dark, he suggested they head back towards their neighbourhood. They started to head
back after Tariq had given his consent.
However, as they navigated through the bustling streets, they encountered an unexpected
roadblock - a parade celebrating a local festival. Mukange and Tariq pushed through
the crowds, laughing and joking along the way, determined to make it home on time.
Finally, as the sun began to set, Mukange and Tariq made it back to their neighbourhood.
Exhausted but ecstatic from their adventure, they promised each other to hang out
together again soon; then they parted ways.

Mukange couldn’t help but smile at the things that had happened that day as he lay in
bed that night. He had discovered new areas of the city, made memories with his friend,
and learned that sometimes, the best adventures occur when you go out and experience
the world and that is called living.
