Relationship between language, creativity and theatre arts

                (a) Creative use of language differentiates theatre from other forms of
communication: Creative artists use language not only to shape their
thoughts and emotions but also to communicate their understanding of the

world around them. This is true because creative use of language involves
experimentations and playing with words in order to express something
that has never existed before. As an artist, it is important to note that
language, creativity and theatre influence each other, for instance there is no
theatre without creativity, and no theatre without language. This suggests
that creative use of language is not just a tool for sending message to the
intended audience but rather a device for creative thinking. Generally,
creative language in theatrical context is a cornerstone for creative
imagination and thoughts. Theatre arts genres such as storytelling, dance,
mime or recitation depend on creative use of language to appear unique,
original and different from one another. It is the creative use of language
that makes them sound distinct. Without creative use of language, theatre
performances would be boring and tiresome.

                (b) Language as an expressive device to dispatch the intended message to
the audience: Language serves as a primary medium through which
creativity is expressed. Theatre artists use language to convey creative
ideas, emotions through various medium mainly storytelling, dance, stage
plays, dance-drama and recitations. All these forms depend on language
as an expressive device to express feelings and emotions.

                (c) Language in theatre context serves as a cognitive device: Language and
creativity involve complex interpretation and understanding processes.
Theatre arts depend on the capacity of the audience to make connections
between unrelated concepts to come up with the meaning of a performance
that never existed before. It is through the creative use of language that
theatre artists communicate to the audience the artists’ views, imaginative
thoughts and perceptions of the world around them.

                (d) Exposure to and use of diverse languages mediated communication and
generation of creative solutions: Exposure to diverse languages stimulates
creativity and different ways of thinking. Theatre artists exposure to
diverse languages stimulate their creative venture and it enables them to
