            Functions of the National Art Council
            The functions of National Arts Council include;
                (i)   Reviewing and promoting development  and creation of artistic
                     works, including the production and utilisation of indigenous musical
                     instruments, songs, poetry and traditional dances, with the intention of

                     reviving and promoting  Tanzanian culture.
                (ii)  Conducting research on development,  production and marketing  of
                     artistic  works.
                (iii)   Providing  consultancy  services  and  technical  assistance  for the
                     development  of artistic  companies.
                (iv)   Planning, conducting and coordinating arts activities and events that
                     take place within the country.
                (v)  Organising and coordinating artistic activities.
                (vi)   Advising the government on all matters pertaining to the promotion
                     and production of artistic works.
                (vii)  Conducting  exhibitions,  shows, displays, workshops, seminars  and
                     competitions.

            Tanzania Artists Rights Organisation (TARO)
            This is a non-government organisation that advocates for the rights and interests
            of artists and their works. It was officially registered in 2021. The organisation
            discovered  that  art  is the  fundamental  aspect  for human  culture  and society
            and  reflects  the  life  of  society  through  its  creativity  and  imaginations  of  any
            individual. The organisation acknowledges and appreciates the value of art and
            its fundamental significance to society.


            Functions of the TARO
                (a) The organisation has a mission to bring awareness to the artists about
                    the right to have associations, right to freedom of movement, right to
                    protection of social and economic welfares and the right to participate in
                    cultural  life.
                (b) To  encourage  and  influence  society  to  participate  actively  in  poverty
                    alleviation  missions through arts and literature

                (c) To promote the protection of artists’ rights and interests in relation to their
                    artistic work from piracy and others

                (d) To raise awareness on the laws governing artistic  works in  Tanzania,
                    which may help them to know  their rights and responsibilities
