Post-performance discussion
This is a forum held immediately after the performance. Its aim is to discuss
issues that were raised during the performance. The audience in this stage are
encouraged to discuss issues, find solutions and propose strategies for action. Post-
performance discussion emphasises the necessity of bringing people together for

discussion and addressing issues collectively. It is at this stage that people find
ways to bring about positive social change and development of community’s
social life. As a result, it makes the most important part of the process, for it is at
this point that a discussion takes place with all parties concerned under the same
roof.
The discussion is normally facilitated by a joker who normally is part of the
facilitation team or a member of the community. The joker who also plays the
role of a moderator facilitates the session by encouraging the audience to speak
out through questions and answers methodology. Some guiding questions may
be prepared beforehand based on collected data, so as to simplify the post-
performance discussion process. Other questions might come from the audience.
The joker should allow both the audience and invited guests to respond to
questions raised. It is important that the list of invited guests include political
authorities, civil servants, community leaders and other stakeholders whose
participation will have a direct impact on issues raised. Their responses to issues
addressed in the play as well as in the discussion are of great importance. Figure
