        FOR ONLINE READING ONLY

              Introduction

The fall of Man originates from the disobedience of Adam and Eve to God’s
command. Adam and Eve instructed by God not to eat the fruit of the forbidden
tree which was in the midst of the garden, otherwise they would die (Genesis 3:3).
The violation of God’s rule led them to punishment. In this chapter, you will learn
about the concept of the fall of man and its consequences. You will also learn
the causes and effects of sin and the importance of offering faithfully to God.
Furthermore, you will learn the concept of God’s punishment, the story of the
flood, the tower of Babel, the importance of unity, and communication with God
and among people in the community. The competencies developed will enable you
to discern between good and evil, to avoid sin, to give offering faithfully to God,
to live in unity with God and with others, and to have good communion with Him
and with others in the community.

The concept of the Fall of Man

It is a descent of humanity from a state of innocence lived in the presence of God
to a sinful world of misery and death. The first parents disobeyed God’s command.
This disobedience led them into punishment. God’s punishment to His people aimed
            at disciplining them.

The teaching on the fall of man comes from the interpretation of Genesis chapter 3.
The chapter speaks of the devil tempting Eve to eat fruits from the forbidden tree.
Then, Eve yields to the temptation by eating the fruit and she shared it with Adam.
Immediately, their eyes were opened and realised that they are naked; and they
became ashamed of their nakedness. After disobeying God and eating the fruit of
