                  communication

                  Introduction
Effective communication is crucial because it enhances language proficiency,
academic success, and social interactions. When you communicate accurately,
people understand you better, making conversations more meaningful and

engaging. In this chapter, you will hold conversations, compose stories
and describe events using appropriate grammar and vocabulary. The
competencies developed will enable you to communicate effectively and

                  appropriately in real-life situations.

                           Think about:

the importance of grammar and vocabulary in daily conversations.

[Ndula and Kifuge meet at a busy market]

Ndula: Hi, Kifuge! (Excitedly) It’s so good to see you here. How’s
                             everything going?
Kifuge: Hi, Ndula! I’m doing pretty well, thanks. I’m just picking up a
few things for the week. How about you?

Ndula: I’m doing great; I’m just trying to find some vegetables for lunch.
I’m shopping primarily for fruits and vegetables today.
