Activity 8.4 Practising Sign Language Interpretation
Use the activities in the Student’s Book to guide the students through:
(a) Studying the Tanzania Sign Language (TSL) alphabet chart found
in the Student’s Book and answer the questions after it. Students
can study individually and then in pairs and group work.
(b) Using the TSL alphabet chart found in the Student’s Book to practise
signing all the letters. Instruct the students in pairs to interpret as
they sign the alphabet and communicate basic expressions or say
words using TSL.
(c) Practice signing their names using the TSL alphabet as their fellow
students interpret in spoken language.
(d) Introducing themselves in TSL and asking their fellow students to
interpret in English.
(e) Interpreting the English text provided into TSL.
(f) Interpreting the video clip containing simple TSL messages into
English.
Activity 8.5 Analysing theories and principles of interpreting
Use the activities in the Student’s Book to guide the students through:
(a) Reading the story found in the Student’s Book and ask them to
answer the questions after it. You may go through the questions
