Activity 8.6 Discussing the ethics of interpreting
Use the activities in the Student’s Book to guide the students through:
(a) Studying the following two case studies and complete the task that
follows.
(b) Analysing the case studies presented above. Discuss the ethical
considerations involved and potential consequences of different
actions and propose their solutions. Use the following questions
as a guide to the discussion.
(c) Acting out the courtroom situations presented in the Student’s
Book and then instruct them to complete the task that follows.
(d) Reflecting on the ethical considerations, the choices made by
the characters, and the potential outcomes using the following
discussion questions and provide both oral and written responses.
(e) Conducting a debate and presenting arguments, supporting,
responding to counterarguments, and engaging in rebuttals in
one of the following topics.
(f) Inviting or visiting experienced interpreters from different
backgrounds or specialities.
