Introduction
Nutritional assessment is a critical component of nutrition care
that aims to evaluate nutritional status of an individual. The
primary goal of nutrition assessment is to develop appropriate
interventions and strategies that can improve the health and
well-being of an individual or population. In this chapter,
students will learn about the concept of nutritional assessment,
steps to consider when conducting nutritional assessment
research, study designs in nutritional assessment, ethical
considerations, nutritional assessment methods, and factors
to be considered when conducting nutritional assessment. The
competences developed will enable students to assess nutrition
status of various individuals in the community.
