In January, the company agreed to pay more than $220m to settle bribery
charges involving government officials in several countries, including South Africa.
It allegedly paid millions in fees to consultants in South Africa, despite no work being
performed, and funded trips to New York for government officials, including golf
          outings.

          (g) Read the following dialogue between the Human Resources Manager and

Mr Ndala Ndefu. Then, answer the questions that follow.
Human Resorce Manager: Good morning, Mr Ndala Ndefu. Thank you for coming
in for this interview. Can you start by telling me a little
bit about yourself and your background?

Mr Ndala Ndefu: Good morning. Thank you for having me. I’ve a bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human
Resources. I also have three years of work experience
as a Human Resource Manager, primarily in recruitment
                                      and employee relations.
Human Resorce Manager: That’s great to hear. What drew you to the field of human
resources, and what skills do you feel you can bring to
                                      the role?
Mr Ndala Ndefu: I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of people
and organisations. I enjoy working with individuals
and helping them thrive in their professional lives. As
for skills, I’ve strong communication and interpersonal
skills, which allow me to connect well with employees
at all levels. I’m also detail-oriented and have experience
                                      with HR software and systems.

Human Resorce Manager: Excellent. In this role, you’ll be responsible for handling
employee relations issues and ensuring a positive work
environment. Can you share an example of a challenging
employee relations situation you’ve successfully resolved
                                      in your previous role?
Mr Ndala Ndefu: Certainly. In my previous role, there was a conflict
between two employees within the same team. I facilitated
a meeting to allow both parties to express their concerns
and feelings. Through active listening and effective
communication, I helped them find common ground and
reach a resolution. I then implemented a plan to rebuild
trust and improve team dynamics, which resulted in
                                      stronger collaboration and productivity.
