and motivations. Based on the analysis, identify costume, props, backdrop
and elements of scenery needed to reflect and enhance the characters’ traits.

Ethical guidelines of using language creatively
Using language ethically means being honest to oneself, the people and the entire
community for which a creative work is produced. It also means being honest
to the younger generation and elderly generation who devoted time and energy
to build a community characterised by good morals, respect for one another and
trust. The following are key ethical considerations to take into account when
            using language creatively:

               (i) Artistic integrity: Creativity in language should not compromise
integrity. Integrity means the quality of being honest and exercising
strong moral principles. In creative arts, integrity means exhibiting high
artistic standard of performance or creating works. As theatre artists
endeavour to use language in artistic works, it is important to consider
how languages embody moral values of integrity in communities.

(ii) Respect for others: Language has the power to uplift or harm individuals
and communities. Using language creatively should respect the dignity,
rights and sensitivities of others. This includes avoiding offensive
language and stereotypes. Using the language creatively should not
be stereotyped in terms of gender, age, ethnicity, education, social and
cultural background. Respect for diversity and inclusivity should be
advocated in the language used for creative expression.

(iii) Consequences of creative expressions: Creative language can
influence beliefs, attitudes and behaviours. Producers of artistic works
should consider potential consequences of their words on audiences,
particularly the marginalised groups. Language that stimulates violence,
discrimination or harm should be avoided. Generally, theatre artists
should be careful and mindful of the broader societal consequences of
                    their language choices.
