Translation is transferring the content, information or data of a source language
to a target language to convey the intended message. Translators must follow
the principles of transparency, function, faithfulness to the source text, accuracy,
clarity and readability, cultural sensitivity, contextualisation, consistency,
naturalness, adaptation and ethical consideration when translating a text. These
principles ensure accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness of translation in conveying
the meaning and intent of the original text. Additionally, translation requires
carefully consideration of linguistic, cultural, and contextual elements. A good
translator must possess linguistic, cultural and contextual competencies.
