Research report
Teaching procedures
1. Ask students in pairs to brainstorm the meaning of report.
2. Ask each pair to present the work to the class for discussion and a

3. Choose a few students from the pairs and ask them to read aloud the
information about research report, basic guidelines for writing report
and characteristics of a good report provided in the Student’s Book.
4. Allow the students to ask questions on the information presented
in the Student’s Book. Use their questions for class discussion.
Activity 5�3 in the Student’s Book
(a) Organise students in the same pairs that did Activity 5.1 and
5.2.
(b) Ask them to prepare a research report on the topic they
developed a proposal for in Activity 5.2.
(c) Ask students to use online/offline sources to conduct research
and collect data about the proposed topic.
(d) Guide the students in their pairs through discussing and analysis
data they have collected.
(e) Ask them to develop a report by focusing on the guidelines
for writing a report and characteristics of a good report.
(f) Choose one student from each pair to read the report aloud.
(g) Allow questions from the students and use them for class
discussion.
Preparing and making academic presentations
Teaching procedures
1. Guide students in pairs through brainstorming ideas of preparing
an academic presentation, specifically the steps in preparing the
presentation.
2. Group students and ask them to present their work to the class for
knowledge sharing and further discussion.
3. Ask each pair to read silently the steps in preparing an academic
presentation as the Student’s Book presents.
